Large Monet Ruffle Bowl
Large Monet Ruffle Bowl
This bowl is a show stopper, at 18” in diameter, it would make a perfect centerpiece for a table. Each piece is made by hand without a mold, so no two pieces will ever be the same. The Ruffled edge occurs when Kathleen gets the glass hot enough that it loses its ability to support itself, at that moment she uses centrifugal force to flare the glass wide, when she slows the spinning while the glass is still hot the lip ripples and the ruffle lip is born.
This is the Monet Color Combination, named for French painter Claude Monet, whose painting Impression, Sunrise, gave the Impressionist movement its name. His renowned Water Lilies, gave direct inspiration for this color combination. This combination is a mix of purple and teal that mix in the middle to create a lovely sage green.
Painterly Series is a collection of color combinations that are named for historically significant artists. Impressionist painters, whose thick and expressive painting style Kathleen has tried to mimic in the mixing of colored glass chips called frit, inspire many combinations.
